Rev. S. Gentry Taylor, MS, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, is a pre-licensed psychotherapist pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). He earned his Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and brings a unique blend of clinical training, pastoral care, and more than 30 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges and transitions.
Gentry uses a collaborative, relational, empathetic, and strengths-based approach to support adolescents, adults, couples, and families as they navigate concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship distress, communication difficulties, marital conflict, premarital preparation, parenting challenges, blended family dynamics, grief and loss, life transitions, self-esteem concerns, identity development, stress management, and faith-related concerns. He has a particular passion for couples and family therapy, helping partners and families strengthen communication, rebuild trust, deepen emotional connection, navigate conflict effectively, and cultivate healthier, more fulfilling relationships.
Clients often describe Gentry as warm, compassionate, insightful, and easy to talk to. He is committed to fostering a safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive therapeutic environment in which clients feel heard, valued, and empowered. He believes that meaningful change occurs within authentic relationships and that therapy offers an opportunity for healing, growth, self-discovery, and restoration.
With more than three decades of pastoral ministry and counseling experience, Gentry has worked extensively with couples facing marital challenges, individuals navigating personal and emotional struggles, and families seeking greater connection and stability. His background in marriage enrichment, pastoral counseling, mentoring, leadership development, and community engagement complements his clinical work and enhances his ability to understand the complexities of family systems, interpersonal relationships, and human resilience. He welcomes integrating faith and spirituality into the therapeutic process in ways that align with each client’s values and preferences.
His work with clients draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Therapy, Attachment Theory, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based approaches to couples and family treatment. He is committed to providing culturally responsive care and to helping clients build on their strengths to achieve lasting personal, relational, and emotional well-being.
In addition to his clinical work, Gentry serves as Lead Pastor of Philadelphia Church International–Minnesota and as a mentor, educator, and community leader. He is passionate about helping individuals, couples, and families move beyond merely surviving to thriving by fostering hope, healing, resilience, and healthy relationships.
