It can be overwhelming to know where to start on your journey to make some changes in your life. Especially if it feels like there is a lot that needs to change. Instead of looking at everything all at once (which is daunting), break it down into small, manageable steps. God sees the big picture and knows every detail, which allows us to focus on the small steps within our control (Hebrews 4:13).
Still feeling stuck at this point? Start at the smallest of steps and remember: progress is progress, no matter how small. Change doesn’t always need to be something drastic and earth-shattering, sometimes it comes in gently and in unexpected ways.
I was at a concert once, and the lead singer of the band was talking to the crowd and encouraging us to dance. He encouraged the crowd to start small, with some subtle shoulder raises. After which, we could increase our movement to our comfortability, but the key is to start small.
Change is a lot like dancing. A little sway here, a little shimmy there, a shoulder raise over there, and soon enough you’re dancing! We don’t realize how much we’ve grown until we look back and see how far we’ve come and realize all those little steps added up to significant change over time. What small step can you take today in your dancing toward change?
“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”. -Hebrews 4:13
